about

Singer Songwriter Colette O'Connor's debut Album "Web in the Corner" introduces twelve unique acoustic delights. Pure, organic, compositions, rich with ornate guitar work, flavor full chords, all beautifully balanced against lyrics that mix childlike fun with a mature wisdom. The sound is unadorned, natural, fresh and clear as the heart that sings them. Want to know more? The following industry review has many helpful details!

CD REVIEW:

"Having been a music programmer for many years at several radio stations, I've listened to thousands of albums from singers and instrumentalists alike. I'm always looking for honesty in the music, heart and soul and of course pure talent. It is the artist that not only has the technique but possess that ability to touch the listener, to speak in a language that defies words, this is the artist that I will listen to again and again. Listening to singer songwriter Colette O'Connor, I'm struck by her exquisite guitar passages and phrasings Then I hear her voice which has such clarity and control, matching perfectly with what her fingers are playing on her guitar strings. Her passion flows into her songs some of which are whimsical like her song TANGERINE BUTTERFLY, and others speak of a life fully lived, BEEN THERE DONE THAT. She crafts her words into musical vignettes that brings me into her world, I hear her horse of many years before galloping in the song INTO THE WIND. I hear her Celtic influences in the beautiful SONG FOR MIRANDA, and I feel her commitment to a better world with the insightful LESSONS IN HUMANITY. The title track WEB IN THE CORNER showcases her guitar playing with a opening solo that is reminiscent of Heart's Dreamboat Annie. It is a powerful combination to have both an expressive voice and the skill to make your instrument flow with your words set to music. Singer Songwriter Colette O'Connor crafted a gem of a album, simple yet filling, music that I can listen to again and again."

Track Name: Web In The Corner
Spider web in the window catching dreams I ignore. When I wake every morning, something climbs to the corner. A single thread reality, woven into mystery, opens up the possibility of that web in the corner, tangled up in, me. Spider hangs in the dawning just above my eyes. When I wake every morning truly a surprise. A single thread reality, woven into mystery, opens up the possibility of that web in the corner, that web in the corner, oh that web in the corner, tangled up in me. Maybe everything could be wrapped in a web in the corner that lives in a dream. 'Cause no body's tole me the reason for dreaming. How can I see by closing my eyes, to that web in the corner, that web in the corner, oh that web in the corner, that lives in a dream.
Track Name: Tangerine Butterfly
Lovely darting, in the airwaves. See my tangerine butterfly. Hope is floating all around her. Raining down, changing now, without a clear reason why. But time happens that way. We play for such a little, little while. Find yourself an open meadow. Oh my tangerine butterfly. Kiss me once a summer teardrop, raining down, changing now, without a clear reason why. But time happens that way. We play for such a little, little while. I will always love you dearly. Hold a tangerine butterfly, gentle as a child-flower. Growing proud off the ground. Without a clear single reason why.
Track Name: Hide and Seek
Hide and seek, it's a child's game. 1,2,3, counting aloud until you vanish all alone, cleverly disguised. Running home before you're found. Ready or not it's time to play hide and seek. Look in a million places but you wont find me, 'cause I am the best one at playing hide and seek. Playing hide and seek. "Cause that's the way I learned how to hide, with delight. No one can compromise my secrets. All alone, cleverly disguised. No go find your own place. I've got ways of hiding that I'll never give away. That's just the way the game is played in hide and seek. Playing hide and seek. Ready or not it's time to play hide and seek. Look in a million places but you won't find me 'cause I am the best one at playing. Time went by. No more child's games and I'm afraid nobody knows that I'm still hiding. All alone cleverly disguised. It's a lonely gamble, when you're good at hiding people never know you're there. But who ever said the game was fair in hide and seek. Playing hide and seek. Ready or not it's time to play hide and seek. Look in a million places but your won't find me 'cause I am the best one at playing hide and seek. Playing hide and seek. When you're good at hiding people never know you're there.
Track Name: Sooner Or Later
Pardon me, have you seen my hopes and dreams? I thought I'd left them here. Didn't mean to be careless with my things. I thought I'd kept them well. Turned a corner and what got left behind was me. Now it's late. Should have noticed. Sooner or later, if the game is over, where's the prize that was mine to win. Sooner or later what get's lost is never found because I forgot to play. Put away all the little things I used to do, and made a bigger room. There were sweet melodies I just didn't write, because there wasn't time. Turned a corner and what got left behind was me. Now it's late, should have noticed. Sooner or later, if the game is over, where's the prize that was mine to win. Sooner or later, what get's lost is never found because I forgot it and. Sooner or later, if the game is over, where's the prize that was mine. I want it. Sooner or later, what get's lost is never found because I forgot to play. I forgot to play. So pardon me, have you seen my hopes and dreams. I forgot them.
Track Name: In and Out
On the porch, my old dog's waiting. Laying there, her front paws hanging. Breathing in, so nice and easy. Open eyes taking in the seasons. From what I see, there's sure a lot for me to learn just watching her breathe. In and out, from the house to the yard. In and out of my arms. In and out from the car. In and out, through the passing of time, that steady constant friend was always mine. In and out. At the door, my old dogs waiting. Standing there with her long tail wagging. A routine twenty years in the making. Now her easy golden years are all that she's taking and from what, from what I've seen, that loving soul with fur and tail was always training me. In and out, from the house to the yard. In and out of my arms. In and out from the car. In and out, through the passing of time, that steady constant friend was always mine. In and out of my heart. Beating time with her tail, caring eyes full of love, and a bark. Down the road, when my own life is slower, I will smile knowing she's getting closer once again, with her long tail wagging. Now my easy golden years will be worth my on taking, 'cause from what, from what I've seen, there's nothing there to doubt at all she'll be waiting there for me. In and out, from the house to the yard. In and out of my arms. In and out from the car. In and out, through the passing of time, that steady constant friend was always mine. In and out.
Track Name: China Shop
Someone in the China Shop waits. Minutes into hours fade. Do not strike the glass for if it breaks it can't go back. Love was born of fire, long, long ago. Turning desire into the mold every beating heart became and, in time, remains. Fragile as the glass you can not see. Broken in me. So I locked it away, where all the fragile things lay, now in the China Shop case. Hope left behind, still beating, beating. Hoping you'll find, all the pieces keeping, where I locked them away, all the fragile things lay now in the China Shop case. Someone in the China Shop waits. Minutes into hours fade. Do not strike the glass, for if it breaks it can't go back.
Track Name: Song For Miranda (based on a poem by Elizabeth Zappala-Hanson)
Oh wild child, oh wise child,
who sold you the moon?
When did you barter
the evening sky?
A better sunrise is in your eyes
Your one true love to reveal.
Your one true love to reveal

Descending moon, Miranda
Miranda rising moon,
the seed of your desire
will come to harvest soon,
will come to harvest soon

Oh wild child, oh wise child,
the tinker may be, who offers to
place the world at your feet,
and wrap you in midnight
atop his fine cart.
Your laugh upon the wind.
Your laugh upon the wind.

Descending moon, Miranda
Miranda rising moon,
the seed of your desire
will come to harvest soon,
will come to harvest soon.

Oh wild child, oh wise child,
the landowner waits.
He is a wealthy man with silver fine,
offering sunlight through curtains lace.
Your cushion by the hearth.
Your cushion would be by the hearth.

Descending moon, Miranda
Miranda rising moon,
the seed of your desire
will come to harvest soon,
will come to harvest soon.

Oh wild child, oh wise child
who sold you the moon?
When did you barter
the evening sky?
A better sunrise is in your eyes
Your one true love is revealed.
Your one true love is revealed

Beloved child, Miranda
the stars adorn your hair.
A woman’s true desire
to marry now the one
who stands before you there.
Track Name: Huckleberry Finn
Past the hedge and through the fence
He had muscle; I had sense
His had freckles, mine had none, dirty faces having fun.

Down the path until we reached the bog
Hidden raft behind the hollow log
Up ahead, there’s trouble to get in
While we played Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn

Grubby fingers, grassy knees
we caught frogs and we climbed trees
his was red; mine was brown, heads together, all around. (and)
In the river, through the weeds
Built a fort be-tween the willow trees
He was funny; I had style, true companions all the while.

Down the path until we reached the bog
Hidden raft behind the hollow log
Up ahead, there’s trouble to get in
While we played Tom sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. La, la, la, la, la, Huckleberry Finn

Army guys, Tonka trucks, secret spies running out of luck.

All good things, or so they say,
seem to change in just one day.
Mine are brown, his were blue
He was a boy, and thought I was too---
‘Til the day he learned I was a girl
Seemed to shatter his whole world
Found him hiding in a tree
Told him, ~”Land sakes …, I’m still me!”

Down the path until we reached the bog
Hidden raft behind the hollow log
Up ahead, there’s trouble to get in
While we played Tom sawyer and Huckleberry Finn Yeah, it was me and him.
La, la, la, la, la, Huckleberry Finn
Track Name: Lesson In Humanity
Feathers hold wisdom, I’ve heard.
Beating in silence the wings of a bird.
That fell from the nest into fate,
And away with shadows in the night
Moved from the stars to another life.

An owl needing care is what began
A lesson in humanity for man.

Wisdom now waits by s door
Eyes at the window; perch on the floor.
The damage had cost everything
They had saved the owl but not the wing
Handed by fate the precious thing.

An owl needing care is what began
A lesson in humanity for man.

Through the walls and out the door
There’s a world that’s so much more.
Nature sent an owl with a plan for
Teaching some humanity to man.

People come seeking by day
Deep in those eyes is a powerful gaze
That opens a place in the mind
Where beauty and caring are there to find
The children of nature are all divine.

An owl needing care is what began
a lesson in humanity for man.

Through the walls and out the door
There’s a world that’s so much more.
Nature sent an owl with a plan for
Teaching some humanity to man.

Feathers hold wisdom, it’s true
Words beyond silence are calling to you
Look in the eyes by the door
Waiting in shadows from the floor
Trading his freedom to teach you more

Nature found a balance in this plan
For teaching some humanity to man.

Through the walls and out the door
There’s a world that’s so much more.
Nature sent an owl with a plan for
Teaching some humanity to man.
Track Name: Into The Wind
A filly foaled at dawn
My daughter had seen the wonder
and instantly made the bond
They would ride- into the wind.

This is a tale
Combed and braided
A filly and girl who share a spirit.

Growing up, sure enough
The year they played was plenty
To teach the trust and love
They would ride,
Into the Wind.

Working on the farm,
After the chores comes freedom
in pastures from the barn
They would ride- into the wind.

This is a tale
Combed and braided
A filly and girl who share a spirit.

There’s only one stretch of time
Youth is alive with passion
I feel it racing by
As they ride- into the wind.

Warm night
Porch light,
Dinner’s waiting
But I smile, with pride
Watching them ride

Thunder of hooves at night
The crest of the moon to light them
Capturing souls in flight
As they ride- into the wind.

This is a tale, combed and braided
A filly and girl share a spirit.
Track Name: Been There Done That
Life as a care free rover means that I’m starting over,
that's fine, here I go again.
It’s all just what I’ve made it, nothing too complicated.
Things all work out in the end.

‘Cause I know now what happened then.
I’m all right where I’m at because I've been there, and done that.

Married at seventeen, it wasn't a teenage dream but motherhood
was good for me. We had a happy home, though I raised the kids alone, love made our family.

And I know now what happened then. I’m all right where I’m at because I’ve been there, and done that.
Yes I’ve been there, and done that.

Been right being wrong.
Been weak being strong.
Got wise when the day was done; the lesson’s what I won.

For the all-mighty dollar, I wore a heavy collar,
sometimes in white or in blue.
Working for fruits of labor, lost like a drunken sailor,
treasure that I never knew.

But I know now, what happened then. I’m all right where I’m at because I’ve been there, and done that.
Yes, I’ve been there and done that.

Been broke and abused.
Done everything I thought I had to do.
Been best when the worst got done. The lesson’s what I won.

Been there and done it over; now I’m a carefree rover,
thankful for all that I see.
Nothing too complicated, loving that I have made it perfect in simplicity.

Don’t matter, where the wind will blow. Storms always pass.
I’ll follow where my heart will go…’cause I’ve been there, and done that.
Yeah, I’ve been there and done that.
Track Name: Nothing But Thanks
I once met a man, his name was "Thanks".
He lived in the park.
I asked him one day, don't you get cold?
No, I'm alive on the ride, he said, and I don't need somewhere to hide.

Should I go 'round again? That day in the park is stuck in my head.
Won't get me anywhere. Well nothing but thanks is something to share.

I didn't think until later, long after goodbye, he took nothing for granted
and neither should I. Oh la, la,la, la,la, la,la, la, la,la, la,la.

Yes people do exist that trade their names for nothing so true as thanks will do, and now I'm alive, I'm alive on the ride 'cause living is no where to hide.

Want to go 'round again. That day in the park is stuck in my head and life is lived everywhere and nothing but thanks is all that I'm here for.
And I want to go 'round again. That day in the park is stuck in my head and life, life can go any where, and nothing but thanks is something to live for. And thanks for the thought, those something's from nothing because now that I've got nothing but thanks I've learned a la, la,la, la,la, la,la, la, la,la, la,la, I've learned a lot. About thanks.
